This is a view of a small island in a bay north of Parry Sound looking out onto Georgian Bay. The painting is called the Sentinels, whose profile exhibits the ravages of storms, wind and harsh winters. These elements have shaped the character of these white pines that must struggle to survive on this rocky surface. The view is set off by the dramatic sunset, typical of this region in summer.

Brent Arlitt resides in downtown Toronto, and enjoys seeing the endless possibilities for conveying the wonder and joy of being into his paintings. Brent has always had a keen interest in art and photography. In the past few years, he has participated in a number of courses and workshops in oil painting, watercolour and acrylics. Some of his most enjoyable painting experiences have involved pleine air painting at locations such as Grand Manan Island NB, Jekyll Island GA, Haliburton ON, Thornbury ON, in the City of Toronto, and numerous other locations.
